A closer look at Edgbaston
As the leading supplier of Birmingham Limos, we take a keen interest in the local area and the eclectic range of facilities which they offer. One of the most vibrant areas which we cover is Edgbaston.
Historically there are references to Edgbaston dating back to the Domesday Book and over recent times, the area has evolved into an amalgamation of serene gardens and service industries, as well as being the primary residential area on the outskirts of Birmingham city centre.
Conservation areas cover roughly half of the settlement, with the Calthorpe Estate playing an fundamental part in preserving the unique character of all locations south of Hagley Road. Contained within this area there is a fascinating range of local architecture dating back to the nineteenth century – much of which is now listed.
Edgbaston is the also the home of many leading institutions within the service industry these include The Queen Elizabeth hospital, BBC Pebble Mill and the University of Birmingham. There are currently around 26,000 students from 150 countries at the University, which is one of the most prestigious in the country. The old adage that you should work hard and play even harder is exemplified within the University, as the standard of the research conducted here is second to none – yet during the summer prom season there are always plenty of limos on hand to escort the students to their venues in style!
Finally, Edgbaston is also the home of Warwickshire County Cricket Club as well as being an international cricket venue. This summer we welcome New Zealand to Birmingham on June 18th for a one day international, which is followed by the 3rd NPower test match against South Africa between July 30th and August 3rd.
If you’re planning a night out or special occasion around Edgbaston or Birmingham, why not make it extra special with the use of one of our Hummer limos or Bentley hire?
