Birmingham New Street to be revamped

Last year Transport Secretary Ruth Kelly revealed that almost £400m of the government money will be poured into revamping Birmingham’s rundown New Street Station.
Recently our Prime Minister, Gordon Brown visited Birmingham as part of a three day tour of England and Wales and also vowed to support the redevelopment of Birmingham’s New Street Station, which has been estimated to cost £598m.
He also commended Birmingham for its fortitude and “strong business spirit”.
The revamp will be a great opportunity for Birmingham because the station is a major strategic rail junction for the country. The revamped station will offer a bright, modern 21st Century transport hub for Birmingham and the West Midlands region.
