Birmingham limo hire is ideal for entertaining your business clients

Friday, April 18th, 2008

Here at Finishing Touch Cars, we take a keen interest in all the areas which our limos operate in. This ranges from keeping up to date with all the local news, business developments and even recent football scores! We want our areas to prosper in every way and enjoy nothing more than seeing this in action.

It was therefore pleasing to learn that one of Birmingham’s leading business venues, Crowne Plaza is set for a massive sixteen million pound redevelopment over the summer.

The project, which was announced yesterday, will be carried out by Operator Centre Island and will comprise a full redesign of over three hundred rooms as well as a purpose built conference and meeting floor. This will include the spectacular “Vista Suite” which offers stunning views of the city and can accommodate over three hundred delegates.

The move will vastly improve the business services within the area, as well as undoubtedly boost the local economy.

We receive many enquires and booking for limo hire as part of corporate hospitality events, with companies wanting to impress their most valued clients. This trend has been growing over recent years with businesses really wanting to push the barriers of how they can create the best impression with their clients.

Hiring a Bentley or Hummer Limo when entertaining clients will certainly give you that extra bit of style and sophistication – this could make all the difference in whether you achieve your objectives or not.

An overview of Kidderminster

Wednesday, April 16th, 2008

Located a mere seventeen miles from city centre Birmingham, the historic town of Kidderminster is a popular location for limo hire.

Situated within the Wyre Forest, Kidderminster boasts a population is excess of fifty five thousand and is twinned with the German town of Husum

Much investment has been made within the town over recent years, and this has been exemplified with the construction of “Weaver’s Wharf” The area represents a popular retail district with both locals and visitors alike, and within this stands the listed building “Slingfield Mill”, which has been developed into a prominent and successful part of the retail facilities.

Historically, Kidderminster has led the way in terms of carpet manufacturing. This dates back to the eighteenth century with the evolution of “Brintons” which was not only a nationally recognised brand, but also significantly fuelled the local economy.
Interestingly, there is still a newspaper within the area named “The Shuttle” which directly relates to the transportation of carpet looms at the height of the industry. Sadly, carpet manufacturing within the town has slowly reclined over time, but the industry is by no means dead with over two hundred people still employed by Brintons in the town.

In terms of nightlife, Kidderminster has pubs, bars and clubs which will suit everyone’s preferences. Many of the people which we provide limo hire for descend on the Mirage nightclub. An eclectic range of music is played over the course of the night at Mirage, ranging from dance to rock and from RnB to good old fashioned eighties cheese which gets everyone up on the dance floor!

In addition to this, “DY10” is very popular for parties and celebrations, as is “Q2” which is a vibrant pool bar located within the town centre.

For those of you who like to stretch the evening out as long as possible, there are several bars which have extended opening times including Rachel’s Bar and the Watermill which is a particular favourite.

An overview of Solihull

Monday, April 14th, 2008

With a population of over ninety five thousand, the West Midlands town of Solihull is one of our most favoured destinations for limo hire. The area resides just nine miles away from city centre Birmingham, and yet is fundamentally different from the hustle and bustle of the country’s second city.

Solihull represents one of the wealthiest towns situated within the Midlands, and the fact that the corresponding borough is the fifth prosperous in Britain is one which is held with much pride by the locals.

Visitors are given an insight into life in Solihull with reference to the town’s motto – “Urbs in Rure”, which translates into “Town within the Country”.

In direct contrast to Birmingham, the locomotive of change which accompanied the Industrial Revolution wasn’t particularly felt within Solihull. In fact, at the turn of the twentieth century, the town was still a relatively small market settlement. Even the German Luftwaffe could not alter this during the Second World War, despite devastating the nearby areas of Birmingham and Coventry.

By the 1960s, the town’s population was rapidly increasing and this trend came as a result of a variety of factors. Perhaps the most influential of these was the dispersion of slum areas within Birmingham, with many residents turning to Solihull to build their new lives.

This was furthered by the growth of the Rover motor vehicle site and the development of what would become Birmingham International Airport. These both meant that there was an influx of employment opportunities within the area and as such, people flocked to be part of the new vibrancy which characterised Solihull within the 1960s

There is a good mix of pubs and bars within the centre of Solihull, with some traditional, old fashioned hostelries being favourite amongst the locals. There is plenty of nightlife to explore and within a short distance of each other, you will find familiar bars such as O’Neils, Pitcher and Piano and Rosie O’Brien’s – the majority of these having licences which run into the small hours.

It is also worth bearing in mind that the National Exhibition Centre is in very close proximity to Solihull and there is a wealth of entertainment which can be accessed here, including – the Motor Show, the Clothes Show, the Good Food Show and also an eclectic range of musical acts which run throughout the year.

There are plenty of opportunities for you to celebrate your special occasion within Solihull – all of our chauffeurs are very knowledgeable about the area, so why not go that extra step and hire a limo to transport you to this very quaint location in style.

Walsall – a terrific blend of the old and the new

Sunday, April 13th, 2008

As the leading limo hire company in the Midlands, Walsall is an obvious location to cover. The town is situated within the West Midlands, to the east of Wolverhampton and slightly to the north west of the city of Birmingham. Walsall is often referred to as a component part of the Black Country and within the borough are the towns of Aldridge, Willenhall and Bloxwich.

The town went through somewhat of a transformation during the 1970s and as part of this, the town centre was completely rebuilt. This meant the end of some historic medieval structures in favour of state of the art housing, offices and apartments.

Yet, the redevelopment process within the town remains vibrant today, particularly considering the St Mathews Quarters. This will include an array of well known shopping facilities and modern housing as well as a brand new Tesco superstore which has already opened. The site of the old Tesco is due to be converted into a contemporary one hundred thousand sq ft retail outlet.

Plans are also afoot to provide a connection between St Mathew’s Quarters and the historic market within the town which boasts over 800 years of history. This amalgamation of the old and the new is a distinct feature of Walsall today and is one which will ensure its continued vibrancy into the twenty-first century.

Walsall contains an eclectic range of pubs, clubs and bars and is also the home to the League One football side who play at the impressive Bescot Stadium.

There is truly something for everyone within Walsall, so take your time to have a look around, and plan your special night in this very special town.

Wolverhampton is a great place to visit

Thursday, April 10th, 2008

Of all the areas which we cover, Wolverhampton has to be one of the most vibrant for limo hire. Quite simply it is one of the most friendly, and endearing places in Britain. As one of the more recent cities, Wolverhampton fully lives up to their status and there is never a dull moment within the area.

The city centre comprises of an eclectic range of shopping facilities with a good amount of this sheltered, which is an added benefit. There is also a multitude of cafes, restaurants and bars which will tempt everyone’s preferences.

The city is steeped in history and there is much reference to their past on show today. In particular, there are a wealth of historic houses in the area which include Boscobel House, Moseley Old Hall, Bantock House and Wightwick Manor which is managed by the National Trust.

Yet don’t presume that such an historic city lives solely in the past, as Wolverhampton boasts a fantastic array of entertainment which ranges from the Newhampton Arts Centre, Dunstall Park Racecourse, Wolverhampton and Dudley Breweries and the Light House Media Centre. There is also a state of the art fourteen screen cinema within the city which is a popular attraction for visitors and residents alike.

The city is also home to Championship football side Wolverhampton Wanderers who play their home matches at the impressive Molineux stadium. Wolves are currently seeking a play off place as the season draws to a close, and are looking to bring top flight football back to the area next year.

The city is also a popular destination for birthday and hen parties due to the range of nightlife on offer. You can literally find any sort of music to dance the night away to in nearby bars and clubs, as well as plenty of good old fashioned pubs for a slightly quieter evening.

As the leading limo hire company within the area, Wolverhampton has a special place in our hearts and we hope that you will learn to love the city as much as we do!

An overview of Dudley

Wednesday, April 9th, 2008

Finishing Touch Cars provide limo hire to a wide range of locations in the midlands and as a result we take a keen interest in the areas which we cover.

One of these is the areas is the quaint medieval town of Dudley. The historic town is home to Dudley Castle which is thought to have dated back to the 13th century and still remains a popular tourist attraction today.

Yet, the town’s development did not really take off until the advent of the Industrial Revolution in the nineteenth century, and as a result of the industries which it embodied, quickly became known as a pivotal area of the Black Country. Although much of the industrial clout the area commanded has diminished over recent years, Dudley became famous for both coal and limestone mining.

In the wake of the Second World War, much effort was made to house the people of Dudley and as a result many of the council developments which are still a vibrant feature today, were born. The first of these was the Priory Estate which is located right on the border of Sedgley – over two thousand homes were built in this area during the 1930s. This was quickly followed by the Wrens Nest Estate which can boast a unique location, in that it resides below Wrens Nest Hill where numerous dinosaur fossils are located.

Interestingly, Dudley made the news in 2002 when it was the unfortunate epicentre of the largest earthquake which had hit Britain for over ten years.

In terms of attractions, the town is home to the Black Country Living Museum as well as the spectacular Dudley Zoo which also contains the town’s castle within it’s grounds.

It is also a well known fact that Dudley is a great place to visit for specialist shops – the most unusual of which is Ferret World which is devoted to, yes you have guessed it, ferrets!

Dudley is also a great place to go and let your hair down with a wealth of pubs, clubs and bars. One of the most popular night spots is the Waterfront, and on most Saturday evenings you will find our Hummer limousine chauffeuring people here for parties, hen nights and general nights out.

The town is certainly well worth a visit and as the number one supplier of limos to the area, we can whole heartedly say that you will not be disappointed.

Halesowen under transformation

Thursday, April 3rd, 2008

Halesowen is still in the middle of a huge makeover with millions being spent on transforming the main shopping complex. We have to take this into account when planning some limo hire and wedding car bookings as we follow diversions.

The main work is being done in the centre around a brand new Asda complex. At the moment there is a one way system in operation around the Halesowen centre. Some of the lanes are temporarily narrower but even the wider Hummer limos have no problem navigating through.

Halesowen is very popular when it comes to wedding cars as St Johns is a very popular church. It is also very popular with limo hire as Halesowen has its own Weatherspoons which is very busy especially on Friday and Saturday evenings.

Halesowen has its own swimming pool and leisure centre. If you are booking a limo for a childrens party the leisure centre has some good facilities.

There is also some great country side with green belt land surrounding Halesowen and Clent hills is great for a family day out. For parks you could consider Leasows park which is situated on Mucklow Hill.

Halesowen is also very popular with sports with a very impressive cricket and football stadium. It has a very good reputation for a safe neighbourhood and benefits from having a very large police station in the centre.

A closer look at Edgbaston

Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008

As the leading supplier of Birmingham Limos, we take a keen interest in the local area and the eclectic range of facilities which they offer. One of the most vibrant areas which we cover is Edgbaston.

Historically there are references to Edgbaston dating back to the Domesday Book and over recent times, the area has evolved into an amalgamation of serene gardens and service industries, as well as being the primary residential area on the outskirts of Birmingham city centre.

Conservation areas cover roughly half of the settlement, with the Calthorpe Estate playing an fundamental part in preserving the unique character of all locations south of Hagley Road. Contained within this area there is a fascinating range of local architecture dating back to the nineteenth century – much of which is now listed.

Edgbaston is the also the home of many leading institutions within the service industry these include The Queen Elizabeth hospital, BBC Pebble Mill and the University of Birmingham. There are currently around 26,000 students from 150 countries at the University, which is one of the most prestigious in the country. The old adage that you should work hard and play even harder is exemplified within the University, as the standard of the research conducted here is second to none – yet during the summer prom season there are always plenty of limos on hand to escort the students to their venues in style!

Finally, Edgbaston is also the home of Warwickshire County Cricket Club as well as being an international cricket venue. This summer we welcome New Zealand to Birmingham on June 18th for a one day international, which is followed by the 3rd NPower test match against South Africa between July 30th and August 3rd.

If you’re planning a night out or special occasion around Edgbaston or Birmingham, why not make it extra special with the use of one of our Hummer limos or Bentley hire?
