The longest ever pub crawl started in the West Midlands!
Recently we published an article which encouraged you to explore different parts of the West Midlands on your nights out and how limo hire is a brilliant way to conduct this. However a group of pub fanatics from the Black Country have just completed what must be one of the longest pub crawls in history – spanning an incredible twenty four years!
The group of four who are known as the Tairsters began the crawl back in 1984 when they realised that there was more out there than the same old pubs every Friday night and decided to launch a novel quest to visit every Banks pub in Herefordshire and Worcestershire – at the time standing at over two hundred and fifty. Yet by the time their challenge had been completed the number actually stood at over seven hundred pubs which the group could tick off.
The group can now claim to have visited an astonishing fourteen thousand pubs and in the last three years have managed to raise over five thousand pounds for charity.
Far from putting their feet up in their local pub however, the Tairsters are about to embark on their next challenge – to visit all the pubs situated within North Wales. This will be done in aid of the Children’s Hospital in Wrexham and we wish them all the best in this.
