March is the main month to be going to the races, as it holds the favorite fixtures that are back after a 12 month wait. Champion Day is the first day which sees the most important hurdle race day of the new season – The Stan James Champion Hurdle. It also sees six other amazing races and a unique atmosphere for these eagerly awaited race days.

Wednesday is Ladies Day, which gives the ladies a chance to dress up, have some fun and even win prizes in their special fashion awards, for the best dressed, best accessories and best hat. The main highlight on the track is the Queen Mother Champion Chase, which sees the best two mile chasers going head-to-head around the Cheltenham course.

St Patrick’s Thursday gives a real Irish feel to the day, with plenty of Irish-style entertainment and the racing being as competitive as ever, with Big Buck’s attempt at winning the Ladbrokes World Hurdle for the fifth year in a row! Over the last three years, Cheltenham Race Course has raised in excess of £650,000 at The Festival week for Cancer Research UK, and a charity race will again be taking place as the centerpiece of the fund raising on St Patrick’s Thursday.

To top the week off, there is the Cheltenham Gold Cup Day, the highlight of the racing year with the atmosphere to match. With the Gold Cup being won by Champion jockey AP McCoy & Synchronised (trainer Jonjo O’Neill and owner JP McManus) in the past, there could be a new name on the roll of honour. This day includes six other spectacular races, including two more Grade 1 events and three fiercely competitive handicaps, which would make this a day to cherish.

Gates open at 10.30am, with first race starting at 1.30pm and last race at 5.15pm, on all race days.
